The Pearl River Conference Focusing on the Thirteenth National Five-year TCM Developing Plan
ReporterSong Liping learnt from the 18th national TCM development conference seminar(the Pearl River conference), convened on Jul 14, Guangzhou, that ‘the TCMprevention and cure of serious disease’ have been included as a major projectin the ‘13th national five-year plan’. Now it is on the drafting stage of theimplantation plan. Hopefully, the first draft will be finished at the end ofthis month, examined and approved by both joint conference and advisory boardlater. Fastest as expected, the plan will be released in October.
The ‘13thnational five-year plan’ is expected to include basic, clinical andexperimental research, TCM heritage, big data, and so on. Related officers of theMinistry of Science and Technology indicated that the ‘13th national five-yearplan’ highlights the top-level design and full chain concept. Moreover, itemphasizes on resource integration, especially on solving TCM bottleneckproblems.
‘Thefact that the TCM prevention and cure of serious disease have been included inthe national thirteenth five-year plan, is closely related with the ‘TCM healthservice development plan (2015-2020), which was issued by the State Council inMay, this year’, said Li Yu, the deputy head at Science and Technology Division,the State Administrative Bureau of TCM. He also thought that the governmentattached importance to the advantages of TCM prevention disease. The ‘13thnational five-year plan’ will stress long-term development and create theconditions for a series of marking results in the future. Li Zhenji, vicepresident and secretary-general of WFCMS (the World Federation of ChineseMedicine Societies), Liu Baoyan, chairman of WFAS (the World Federation ofAcupuncture Societies) and the China Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,discuss together with more than 130 TCM experts on the conference.
