The Academy of Chinese Medicine and the Palace Museum held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in jingshengzhai, jianfugong garden of the Palace Museum. The cooperation will focus on the large amount of traditional Chinese medicine relic resources stored in the Palace Museum, and jointly carry out scientific research on the Qing Dynasty Chinese herbal medicines.

The Palace Museum has a wealth of traditional Chinese medicine relics, especially the original archives of the Qing Dynasty containing a large number of royal medical cases and effective prescriptions. As the "main force" of TCM scientific research, the Academy of Chinese Medicine has extensive experience in the excavation and arrangement of ancient TCM books and cultural relics.

In recent years, the Academy of Chinese Medicine has introduced science and technology archaeology intothe research of herbal medicine, proposed and established the research field and platform of "Materia Medica Archaeology".It has accumulated rich experience in the fields of herbal research, Chinese medicine identification and Chinese medicine processing, and has the largest Chinese medicine resource specimen library.what’more,the Academy of Chinese Medicine conducted research on the Neolithic ganoderma from Tianluoshan site, the Yuhang Nanhu site, and the Qianjinta site. It is concluded that the medicinal history of ganoderma can be traced back to 6800 years ago, indicating that along with the origin of Chinese civilization, our ancestors began to use traditional Chinese medicine.

As an important and distinctive category in the collection of the Palace Museum, the Qing Dynasty medical cultural relics are the physical remains and witnesses to the development of the Qing Palace medical activities. They are valuable cultural heritages, first-hand materials for the study of the history of Chinese medicine, the history of the palace, and even the history of cultural exchanges between China and the west. They play an irreplaceable role.
