The firstnational standard sample identification laboratory for natural products in thefield of Tibetan medicine standardization was approved, and the laboratory willpromote the development of regional specialty Tibetan medicine industry.

Tibetanmedicine, originating from the snowy plateau, is one of the world's fourtraditional medicines, along with Indian vedic medicine, traditional Chinesemedicine and western traditional medicine.. In 2006, Tibetan medicine waslisted in the first batch of China's national intangible cultural heritage.

It is understood that at present, Qinghai Province hassuccessfully developed seven kinds of Tibetan medicines as national naturalproduct standards, namely, Swertiferoside ,Chebulinic acid, Chebulagic acid,pedaliin, bellidifolin, lutonarin,and Glucoside. 

Qinghaiis the main area for the development of Tibetan medicine in China. At present,there are 19 Tibetan medicine production enterprises in the province. In 2018,the total output value of Qinghai Tibetan medicine industry reached 2.6 billionyuan, accounting for 44% of the total output value of China's Tibetan medicineindustry. The scale and comprehensive strength rank first in China.

"Thedevelopment of Tibetan medicine standard products is based on thecharacteristic active chemical components, aiming at solving the problem oflack of chemical reference materials in the process of standardizationconstruction of Tibetan medicine." Li Yulin, a researcher at the NorthwestPlateau Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the use ofstandard products will promote The establishment of the Tibetan medicinequality standard specification control system, and the secondary development ofTibetan medicine and the creation of new medicines for Tibetan medicine are thebasis for the development of Tibetan medicine from traditional workshops tostandardized industrialization.

Theestablishment of the laboratory has important demonstration significance andapplication prospects for solving technical bottlenecks such as lack ofchemical reference materials in the process of standardization of Tibetanmedicine.
