Harelip Inducible Gene Which Only Have Pathogenic Possibilities to Chinese Has Been Discovered in China For the First Time
It is reported that the scientific researchers from TsinghuaUniversity and National Engineering Research Center for Beijing BiochipTechnology has firstly found the important gene locus which may causeharelip. Thegene locus which was found early by foreign experts may only has pathogenetic possibilitiesto western people. Related research results have been published onNature Communications.
Wang Yirui who involved in the implementation of the projectintroduces that the incidence rate of congenital harelip was the highest in theyellow race from a global perspective and it could reach 1.82/1000 in China. Itis the second-highest incidence of congenital diseases in China.
Dr. Wang said that harelipisled by the interaction of both heredity and environment, but the genetic factorshitthe point. He explained that nearly 25% to 35% harelip patients have householdheredity. If the parent was harelip, their children’s morbidity was 40 timeshigher than that of the general people.
Dr. Wang said that theaim of their study was to discover the virulence gene. The researchers havefound the locus which may cause harelipby the end of 2014. This locus is at the16th chromosome and locates between the CREBBPgenes and ADCY9 genes which is coded as rs8049367.
In addition, Dr. Wangsaid there were only five or six teams doing the research work of the virulencegene of harelip in the world and all of them are from the foreign countries. The foreign experts have found 12 gene locus but they only have pathogenicpossibilities to western people. The 13th locus which we found thistime only have pathogenic possibilities to Chinese people.
