Extracting oil manually could be seen in village manyyears ago. However, it is now replaced by oil press with the development ofscience and technology. Oil tank manufacture and oil manufacture craft are thecore parts of the manual oil manufacture. Nowadays, only few people can graspthis technology.

The oil pump capacity depends on the craftsmanship ofoil tank manufacture. Good craft extracts oil with high quality and viceversa. There are three craftsmen in the proess of oil tank manufacture, onemaster and two prentices. It will takes three months to conplete the wholeprocess.

There are five craftsmen performing theirown functionsas well as the other works in the process of oil manufacture. Only one specificwork needs experienced person to complete. The ancient oil manufature craftcontains seven processes. Take 50 kilograms rapeseed for example, it will takeabout two hours to complete it. Different raw materials determine the differentamount of oil.

Currently, the intangiblecultural heritage protection department has taken verious measures to inheritand protect the manufacture crafts of oil tank and oil in Qingyuan Distract, Ji’ancity, Jiangxi Provience. These crafts are also submitted to apply for provincialintangible cultural heritage.
