The Sixth Xinjiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Week Will be Launched in Xinjiang

On May 23rd, 2018, learned from the media briefing of the Department of Culture of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, it was scheduled to carry out the Sixth Xinjiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Week (hereinafter referred to as “ICH”) from June 9th to 15th, 2018.

 

Themed as “The Spread and Inheritance of Cultural Heritage” and “Colorful Intangible Cultural Heritage, Beautiful life”, the event will deeply excavate the role of Xinjiang cultural heritage in meeting the growing needs of the people and highlight the local and ethnic characteristics.

 

The main venue will be located in the Kizil Grottoes in Baicheng County, Akesu Region.  And more than 100 promotional activities will be carried out throughout the province.

 

It is understood that there are 9,542 unmovable cultural relics in Xinjiang, including 6 world cultural heritage sites, 113 national key cultural relics protection units, and 642 cultural relics protection units in the autonomous region. Among them, 6 world cultural heritage sites and 95 cultural relics protection units are open to the public. There are 92 museums in Xinjiang, including 2 country-level museums, and 450 thousand cultural relics. Besides, there are 5 country-level historical and cultural cities and 3 historical and cultural towns, 4 historical and cultural villages, 2 historical and cultural blocks, and 17 historical and cultural villages.
