Recently, Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism officially announced the sixth batch of municipal-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects, and the sugar paintings of Kaizhou District and Shangjiu Denggao were among them.

It is reported that the sixth batch of municipal-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects officially announced by the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Tourism and Tourism has involved 10 categories including folk literature, traditional music, traditional dance, traditional drama and traditional skills.

“Kaizhou Sugar Painting” originated from the Ming Dynasty. It is a traditional folk craftsmanship. It is made of sugar as a material. Its unique shape and complicated craftsmanship are extremely popular. Kaizhou Sugar Painting was selected for the intangible cultural heritage of traditional art.

Shangjiu Denggao is a traditional folk custom that has been passed down for thousands of years in Kaizhou. It can be traced back to the Ba people activities and the Palestinian war. Nowadays, as the traditional customs of Kaizhou to meet the New Year, it has the good meaning of physical health, career development and happiness of life. It can also reflect the humanistic spirit of Kaizhou people who are diligent, brave, pioneering and enterprising. Kaizhou Shangjiu Denggao is listed as the intangible cultural heritage of traditional folk customs.

“With the announcement of the sixth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage projects, as of now, the municipal intangible cultural heritage projects in Kaizhou District have reached 14.” The relevant person in charge of the Kaizhou District Cultural and Tourism Committee said.
