Abstract:As a unique part with special characteristics in the field of international service trade in China, TCM international service trade has already existed inour daily life and expanded to every corner of the world. It was only introduced as a new concept by the government in recent years. This paper summarized the current situation and characteristics of TCM international service trade from five different aspects and analyzed its future developing trend.

1.Current situation and characteristics of TCM international service trade

 

1)The TCM international service trade can be finished by several cross ways. According to General Agreement on Tradein Service (GATS), international service trade can be divided into four modes: cross-board supply, consumption abroad, commercial presence and presenceof natural persons. TCM international service trade is not completed by a singleway, but through the combination of several ways to be achieved.

 

2)The TCM international service trade is unbalance in regional development. Internationally,the Asian students accounted for more than 80%. Domestically, first-tier cities are the main exports area of TCM, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou.

 

3)Regional group coexist with diver sification in medical institutions of TCM. Currently, the TCM institutions in foreign countries are mostly in the form of TCM clinics.

 

4)Patients who receive TCM treatment at home are different from abroad. It is known that TCM has been developed over thousands of years and it is the mostin dependent intellectual property resources in China. Cheap is one of the biggest advantages of TCM. But in foreign countries, patients who receive TCM treatment are mostly wealthier classes or Chinese.

 

5)The exchange of TCM service trade in civil society is more popular than intergovernmental exchange.

 

2.The development trend of TCM international service trade


There are four main trends: firstly, TCM legislation is inevitable; secondly, internationalstandardization of TCM is increasingly improved; thirdly, the TCM internationaleducation market has great potential; finally, the talents of TCM international service trade are in short supply.
