In order to promote the healthy andsustainable development of Chinese Medicine on intellectual property protectionand traditional medicine industry, our country set up the Chinese MedicineIntellectual Property Protection and Industry Developmental Alliance. After thediscussion by all the members, we reached an agreement and published Declarationof Guangzhou on September 12th. The institute of traditional medicine inour city responded and took part in the proposal positively.

It is indicated that traditional Chinesemedicine represents the intellectual achievements of  the whole nation. It has been very importantin protecting people’s health and breeding. But as the creator, heir anddeveloper of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese people don’t fairly share inbenefits in the world pharmaceutical industry chain. What’s worse, thedevelopment of our nation’s traditional Chinese medicine is facing a bottleneckof intellectual property in China.

It is proposed that the Alliance shouldwork out the measures of protection of theintellectual property about Chinese medicine and explore the special mechanismto fit in the new situation and requirement domestic and overseas. We shouldfully preserve and develop the culture essence of traditional Chinese medicinein health maintenance and make full use of the special theory and diagnosistechnology advantages of the Chinese medicine.And finally, gradually guiding to make a new situation in which all the people canshare the benefits of Chinese medicine industry. All members of the alliance needto build up a mechanism to interconnection, interaction and share resources.They should pay attention to integrating the advantages, in order to form a widerange of intellectual property protection and industrial developmentalalliance, and maintain the benefits of Chinese medicine industry as well as thenational interest.
