Giventhe frequency of the epidemic situation of dengue insouth China, WHO states that the epidemic situation of dengue in south Chinarelates to the density of mosquito and the population mobility. According toinformation, the amount of patients who use traditional Chinese medicine intreatment of dengue is up to 96.4%. Traditional Chinese medicine has moresignificant effect in reducing the symptoms, shortening the heating time andincreasing the amount of platelet.   

Wenow know that traditional Chinese medicine hospital of Guangdong province hastreated 233 patients with dengue. The treatment rate of the participation of traditionalChinese medicine has been up to 100%. The eighth people's hospital in guangzhouhas treated 157 patients with the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine,exceeding 90%. Now according to the climatic feature of the Guangdongsouth of the Five Ridges, morbidity season of dengue and the shunt of illnesschange, local government has made 2013 treatment guideline of dengue, includingfour syndrome types of TCM syndrome differentiation and therapeutic principlesand methods, recommending four type of syndromes and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) preparations. It has been concluded through two year’s treatment that thecrucial pathogenesis of dengue is evil poison and blood stasis. So, principle of treatment is mainly on “treatingpoison and blood stasis simultaneously” and the method of treatment is “clearing away heat and toxic materials, cooling,arresting blood and removing blood stasis”.

The first affiliatedhospital of guangzhou university of TCM has now formed the comprehensive prevention and control measure of dengue throughthe main method of anti-mosquito and strengthening hospital’s isolationmeasures. Traditional Chinese medicine hospital has treated 197 inpatients withdengue, completing treatment of 10 severe cases and 5 critical cases.
