A research result about the whole-genomeand whole-transcriptome of peritoneal metastasis lesions in gastric cancer has been published on Scientific Reports. This research wasconducted by Zhu Zhenggang and Yu Yinyan from RuijinHospital, affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Thisstudy provided a new basis for predicting the peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer anddeveloping the targeted therapeutic drug.

Gastric cancer is alife-threatening gastrointestinal cancer with a high mortality rate. Limited bythe sources of sample cases, experimental model and experimental method, theresearch on molecular mechanism of peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer madeslow progress. There was no effective treatment countermeasure to this world problem.

The research team brought thewhole genome sequencing and whole transcriptome resequencing to the explorationof this molecular mechanism. They found the first batch of key driver geneswhich worked in the progress of chronic gastritis to gastric cancer and finallyto peritoneal metastasis lesions.

Meanwhile, this result has alsobeen applied for national invention patent at once. It marked that the researchof peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer has stepped into precision medicalera.
