Recently, the Chinese biotechnology development center, in conjunction with the science and technology innovation commission of shenzhen held a symposium on human genetic resources management in Shenzhen. Nearly 100 representatives from over 40 universities, research institutes, medical institutions and enterprises including shenzhen university, shenzhen research institute of Chinese university of Hong Kong, shenzhen people's hospital and shenzhen bgi co., LTD attended the conference.

The meeting introduced the scope and the main content of the regulations on the administration of the human genetic resources of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "regulations"), it also introduced the regulations on systematically strengthening the standard management of human genetic resources, further encouraging the rational utilization of human genetic resources, and improving the service capacity of government affairs etc. Participants had in-depth discussions on the definition of human genetic resources, the technical specifications of human genetic resources preservation activities, and the filing and backup procedures of information for external or open use.
