Yushu Yak passed the preliminary examination of national livestock and poultry genetic resources identification

The reporter learned from the Qinghai Provincial Animal Husbandry Station that on July 29-31, 2019, Liu Changchun, deputy director of the Office of the National Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Committee, organized five experts, including Professor Zhang Shengli from China Agricultural University to go to Qumalai county of Yushu prefecture to conduct the preliminary examination on-site identification of Yushu Yak.

 

The expert group conducted a detailed review of the Yushu Yak through body appearance observation, body weight measurement, data review, listening to the report and questioning and answering questions. The source of the Yushu Yak was basically the same, the main traits were genetically stable, and the characteristics were obvious and distinctive, it had strong resistance to stress and excellent production performance, the expert group unanimously agreed to pass the preliminary examination of the national livestock and poultry genetic resources on-site  identification.

 

At the same time, the expert group suggested that resource identification should be taken as an opportunity and the beginning to further explore the characteristics and potential of Yushu Yak, scientific protection and rational use, and lay a good resource foundation for the development of Qinghai Yak industry.
