According to the deployment and requirement of the Party Central and the Ministry of Science and Technology on carrying out the educational activities of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, on July 16, 2019, the Chinese biotechnology development center, in conjunction with the science and technology innovation commission of Shanghai held a symposium on human genetic resources management in Shanghai. In addition, the outstanding problems in the management of human genetic resources were investigated.Nearly 100 representatives from over 40 medical institutions and enterprises including Shanghai changzheng hospital, renji hospital affiliated to Shanghai jiao tong university medical college, novo nordisk (China) pharmaceutical co., LTD., Pfizer (China) research and development co., LTD. attended the conference.

The meeting introduced the scope and the main content of the regulations on the administration of the human genetic resources of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "regulations"), it also introduced the regulations on systematically strengthening the standard management of human genetic resources, further encouraging the rational utilization of human genetic resources, and improving the service capacity of government affairs etc. Participants had in-depth discussions on the significance of human genetic resources management, the scope and procedures of clinical trials filing of international cooperation on human genetic resources, and the filing and backup procedures of information for external or open use and intellectual property rights sharing of international cooperation on human genetic resources.
