The genome sequencing of 48 new coronavirus nucleic acid samples was completed by several units in Shan dong province. After careful comparison with the epidemic strains in Wu han region, it was proved that there was no significant variation of the Shan dong epidemic strains.

After the outbreak of xin guan pneumonia, Shan dong gave full play to the supporting role of science and technology, and quickly organized various medical institutions, scientific research institutions, and institutions of higher learning to concentrate on scientific research on epidemic prevention and control. The Shan dong team worked together to fight against the virus and race against time, fighting in the "second field" of epidemic prevention and control for more than 10 hours every day.

After nucleic acid samples from 98 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus in Shan dong province, mgiseq-2000 sequencing equipment was used for high-throughput sequencing, and a total of 48 full-length or near-full-length (> 99%) virus genome sequences were obtained. Through sequencing, similarity comparison and mutation site study of the new coronavirus genome sequence, important reference information can be provided for constructing the evolutionary map, tracing the source of the virus, tracing the mutation path, understanding the biological characteristics and pathogenic mechanism of the virus, and facilitating epidemic prevention and control.

With the deepening of the research, the research group will further expand the sample size, study the genome information of the new coronavirus obtained, timely feedback the latest research results, promote the development of vaccines in our province, prevent and control drug screening, improve the level of epidemic prevention and control technology, and provide scientific and technological support for winning the epidemic prevention and control battle.
