How do the countries along with the SilkRoad exchange and inherit human cultural heritages? What will happen whencultural heritages meet contemporary elements? The Silk Road Culture and TradeForum-2015 International Conference for the Promotion of Chinese CulturalProduction was held in Shenzhen on May 16^th. 

There are several ancient civilizationswith profound historical cultural heritages along with the “One Belt, One Road”.It’s a huge task for these countries on how to make a perfect combination ofthe cultural heritages and modern originality on the premise of inheritingcultural traditions and historical connotation to create new values andvitalities.

As the topic of this conference, “OneBelt, One Road” Cultural Heritage and Modern Design has attracted muchattention and participation of professionals from those countries. The inheritorsof intangible cultural heritages and designers from India, Lithuania, Iran andthe domestic personages in the fields of culture and design have haddiscussions on the topic related to “One Belt, One Road”. They have discussedhow to promote the development on the combination of cultural heritages andmodern creative design industry and how to promote the cultural heritages ofthese countries, the cross-border communication of creative design and trade cooperation.

The chairman of the design associationfrom Lithuania has stated that emotion can’t be preserved in the glasses,photos and stones and culture can survive only if being a part of the life. So,designers are playing an important role to combine the economic value withsocial needs. 

The director of the folk art center under theChinese national academy of arts thinks that the inheritance of Chineseintangible cultural heritages not only needs protection, but also needscreative development. She states that we always make the protection oninheritance against the creative development because we have not clearlydistinguished their exact objects. Actually, we can take both of them intoconsideration, using commerce to cultivate culture or using products to createworks. But the first thing which should be clearly understood is that what weneed to innovate and develop is the products using the traditional culturalelements as the key of design.
