Display of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Milan Expo to Promote Communication and Protection
As reported by the Europa News Agency of Italy, the Milan Expo Delegationof Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage, led by Lu Pingshan, deputy director ofBeijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Development Fund, has arrived at Milan,and, accompanied by Zhu Jinliang, president of Overseas Chinese Association aswell as Chen Feibao, executive vice president of the Venice Federation ofOverseas Chinese to visit the Venice Water Pavilion of Milan Expo, reached anintention for participating the exhibition. China's intangible culturalheritage exhibition will be displayed on the Venice Water Pavilion, by then, China'sachievements in the protection of intangible cultural heritage will be showedto the whole world.
On behalf of the overseas Chinese, Zhu Jinliang welcomed the visitinggroup. He said that the overseas Chinese community in Italy will activelycooperate with and support the exhibited work of China's intangible culturalheritage at the Expo. The exhibition of China's intangible cultural heritage isa great opportunity to show traditional Chinese culture to the overseasChinese, and it will greatly enhance the people's awareness of Chinese historyand culture, strengthening the sense of pride of overseas Chinese, promotingexchange and cooperation between China and Italy.
Lu Pingshan said that China has a long history and a splendid ancientcivilization which has left us rich cultural heritages. A lot of attention hasbeen put on the cultural heritage protection work by Chinese government. Underthe joint efforts and participation of society as a whole, the protection workof China's cultural heritage, especially for the intangible cultural heritages,has gotten remarkable achievements.
Lu Pingshan also said that, in terms of cultural heritage protection,Italy has made remarkable achievements. Much experience worth us studying and gettingas a reference. The exhibition of Chinese intangible cultural heritage held at VeniceWater Pavilion will contribute to the strengthening of communication betweenthe two countries on cultural heritage protection, and further enhancingpeople's awareness of protection on intangible cultural heritage.
Lu Pingshan stressed that the protection work of Chinese intangiblecultural heritage will be actively and selectively promoted step by stepthrough rich and colorful activities with various themes. One of the mostimportant purposes for the exhibition of the intangible cultural heritage is to popularize the knowledge of intangiblecultural heritage to the people through different ways of propaganda, makingmore and more people know about the intangible cultural heritage, attractingmore groups and individuals who are enthusiastic about public welfareundertakings to involve in the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Itis believed that the exhibition of Chinese intangible cultural heritage atMilan Expo will promote the protection work of the China's intangible culturalheritage.
