The Comprehensive Planning on the Protection of the Palace Museum has come out on June 23th, 2015. This planning has further deepened the systematicness and rationality of all aspects of measures such as protection,utilization, management and research of the Palace Museum.

The Comprehensive Planning on the Protection of the Palace Museum is the first Special protection and management planning of the Palace Museum aiming at the overall protection on the cultural heritage value so far.This comprehensive planning has systematically analyzed the values of thecultural heritages based on the emphasis of protecting the integrity ofcultural heritage. It has first put forward the three main themes on the valuesof the Palace Museum——the model of the ancient Chinese official buildings, proof of the palaceculture in Ming and Qing dynasty, the treasure of Chinese ancient art, hasfirst unified the immovable large buildings and movable precious collections ofcultural relics of the Palace Museum into the common value theme as palaceculture value theme and has established the inseparable internal relation. Ithas fully embodied the system theory of the protection on current internationalheritages in the aspects of the preservation, protection, utilization,management and research on cultural heritages.

The object of protectionof the Comprehensive Planning on the Protection of the Palace Museum are world cultural heritage, national relic protection unit, the Palace Museum and its unitsto which property belonging. The planning area is same as the world culturalheritage buffer area of the Palace Museum, which is the perimeter zonearound the Palace Museum. The target deadline to realize the planning is the yearof 2025 which is the centennial anniversary of the Palace Museum.

This planing needs continuously being deepened and will be submitted to the relevant department for approval.Special statute on national level of regulations on the protection of thePalace Museum is suggested to be made to strengthen the integrity andauthenticity of the protection of the Palace Museum, to improve the overall protection of cultural heritage values and to protect the sustainable development of the protection and utilization of the Palace Museum cultural heritages.
