On 21^st July, reporters learned from the Guangdong Shaoguan Municipal Cultural Department that after nearly half a year of data collection and processing, Danxia ormosia was successfully listed in the fifth batch of intangible cultural heritage of Shaoguan City (located in Guangdong Province), in the category of traditional techniques.

Ormosia, also known as “love pea”, whose trees are very high, blooming in summer and autumn, bearing fruit in autumn and winter, and with a red and ruby-likeshape, is often used by southerners to make into necklaces. The heart-shape dormosia growing on the rocks of Mount Danxia composed of red sandy rock is very round, red and cute, condensing rich and memorable love.

The production of Danxia ormosia includes picking up,washing, selecting, drilling, and weaving.

The weaving work of ormosia is complex, with wide varieties and consuminga long time. It is a manual skill that can purify one’s mind. With the development of social economy, a wide range of fashionable gold and silver jewelry slowly covering up the glory of ormosia jewelry in the past. Less and less people learn the crafts manship of ormosia making.

In order to further promote and protect the folk crafts manship, the people's Government of Shaoguan Renhua county has formulated a series of protective measures, including the further improvement of the deep processingof the ormosia handicraft, and the enriching of the form and content of the cultural value and ornamental value; a comprehensive survey of the ormosiahandicraft skills, in order to classify, organize and establish the files;establishing and improving of the inheritance genealogy of the ormosiacraftsmanship; and cultivating of a group of capable and literate inheritors.
