On November 25th,one of the Shanghai "Intangible Cultural Heritage Into the Campuses" theme activities,hosted by the Party Committee Propaganda Department,the Civilization of Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University,and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center,held in the new library’s lecture hall in Minhang campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.ZHAO Ziping,"the Inheritorof Shanghai Paper-cut,the municipal intangible heritage" and "Masterof Arts and Crafts"was invited to explain and display Shanghai Paper-cutfor teachers and students.Chinese and foreign students from different schoolsand associations were drawn to closely feel the unique charm of Shanghaipaper-cut.

Combining with many of his exquisite paper-cut works,ZHAO Ziping vividly explained andshowed the cultural background, development history,main genres and cutting techniques of Shanghai paper-cut and ad-lib.The butterflies,horses and"Smiles" he cut were extremely lifelike.Teachers and students learnedthe cultural value and long history of Shanghai paper-cut.Meanwhile,they weredeeply impressed by ZHAO Ziping’s rich imagination and superb techniques .

Then, ingroups of five,they participated in interaction and experienced the fun of paper-cut.Under the guidance of ZHAO Ziping,they did practices of the basicgraphics such as square,round,heart.And then,they imaginatively cut out theimage of their own design and finished own works independently.In the process,ZHAOZiping constantly encouraged everyone to cut out their unique works and expected everyone to keep paper-cut as a life interest and practice it.They were called upon to carry forward the essences of Chinese traditional culture.

Finally,at the invitation of the organizers,ZHAO Ziping also cut a piece of commemorativelogo paper-cut as a precious gift for Jiao Tong University’s 120-year-anniversary.Peoplegave him the warm applause and said they benefited a lot,hoping to have more opportunities to experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage in the future.

"Intangible Cultural Heritage Into the Campuses" is aimed to bring Chinese intangible cultural heritage to the public through abundant and vivid forms,and let peoplefeel the unique charm of it. Besides,it motivates people to become defenders of the intangible cultural heritage,inheritors of Chinese traditional culture andcarriers of the national venation.Schools will continue to introduce excellent intangible cultural heritage into the campus as well,letting more teachers and students to experience, to realize  and tolove the intangible cultural heritage so that the excellent Chinese traditional culture can be inherited and carried forward better.
