A Performance of Intangible Cultural Heritage was Held in Henan Province
On March 23rd, hosted by the Cultural Department of Henan Province, co-sponsored by Henan Association of Industry and Commerceand Henan Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, and undertook by Henan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Lao Zi’s birthday ceremony and the opening ceremony of Henan intangible cultural heritage performance were held in Luyi, the hometown of Lao Zi, a county of Henan Province.
At 7:50 am that day, the performance formally started. There are more than 1,500 people, including leaders, experts, scholarsand guests attended the opening ceremony.
It was learned that this year is the 2,587th anniversary of the birth of Lao Zi. “Regarded Lao Zi Culture as the core, thebirthday ceremony and the intangible cultural heritage performance as the maincontent, these series of activities aimed to foster social consensus and promote national cultural self-confidence through the birthday ceremony.Besides, these activities attempted to enhance the awareness of intangible cultural heritage protection and promote the work of intangible cultural heritage protection through intangible cultural heritage performance so as to retain homesickness, memories and the roots of national culture.
With rich content and in various forms, the performance had organized provincial intangible cultural heritage projects toparticipate. Each project has unique characteristics and was sparkling. A largebatch of splendid intangible cultural heritage projects in the categories oftraditional drama, traditional sports, folk art, including Henan Opera,Yuediao, Shaolin Kang Fu and so on will bring agreat visual feast for the public from March 23rd to April 21st.In addition, during the Lao Zi temple fair, the county will hold theme activities, such as Commerce Regional Cooperation Conferences, folk art performances, moral communication activities and so on, which will glut the public’s eyes.
