Publication of the Fifth Batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Inheritors

On May 17th, 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism identified and announced the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative inheritors, a total of 1,082. Among the selected list, there are 107 people over 80 years old, 237 at 70 to 79, 287 of 60 to 69, 444 of 40 to 59, 7 under 40. And the average age is 63.29. Among them, there are 339 ethnic minorities, accounting for 31%. From the gender perspective, there are 820 male and 262 females. Of the newly selected inheritors in all provinces and municipalities, Zhejiang Province has the largest number of 74 people.

 

In the assessment work, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism established several working systems, such as the preliminary assessment of expert group, the deliberation of the review committee and the social publicity system. After determining the recommended list of the expert group, the review committee publicized the list to the society for 20 days.

 

At present, the State Council has published 1,372 national intangible cultural heritage representative projects of 4 batches, including 3,154 subitems. What’s more, the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative inheritors mainly concerns about three aspects: the first is the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects published by the State Council; the second is the projects beyond the first three batches of national intangible cultural heritage representative inheritors; the third is the existing national intangible cultural heritage representative projects without representative inheritors.
