Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Achievements Exhibition was Launched in Laoting, Hebei

In order to deeply understand the profound significance of the intangible cultural heritage protection, fully reflect the charm of traditional culture, the “Laoting Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Achievements Exhibition” was officially launched on October 24th, 2016. The first exhibition was held at the Times Square of Town Tingliuhe, Hebei Province.


The event was of large scale, wide range, high level, and with strong local characteristics of Laoting. It was divided into three parts: excellent plays or programs of the national intangible cultural heritage projects; the exhibition on intangible cultural heritage projects above the city level, the panel display of inheritors and information dissemination; intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and performances into the campus.


Laoting has three national intangible cultural heritage projects, including Laoting Drum, Laoting Shadow Puppet and Laoting Yangko (a folk dance). The part of Laoting Drum was assisted by Zhang Jinping, a national intangible cultural heritage inheritors. The part of Laoting Shadow Puppet, there were several traditional repertoires have been performed , such as “Wufenghui” and “Pingxice” and “Yuqian Ballad”, the original repertoire of incorruptness that reflects the main theme of the times. 


Meanwhile, it also hires more than fifty yangko actors to perform. It also shows the thirteen representative intangible cultural heritage projects above the city level (including the origin, history, genealogy, process, value, status etc) and the representative inheritors in the panel form. It distributes more than five thousand volumes, such as brochures of law of intangible cultural heritage, Laoting literary works albums, cultural museum’s brochures and other information to the masses, and Laoting drum talking-singing arts and Li Zhi’s calligraphy to the township cultural department. The event will also do tour performances into towns and villages, schools, enterprises and so on in order to let the public truly feel the charm of the traditional culture of Laoting and recognize the importance of the protection of intangible cultural heritage.


At present, the county has three national intangible cultural heritage protection projects, six provincial projects, thirteen municipal projects and twenty county-level ones. It also has 4 national intangible cultural heritage representative inheritors, 10 provincial ones, 22 municipal ones and 131 county-level inheritors, which initially form the four levels protection system of intangible cultural heritage at national, provincial and municipal, county levels and its protection mechanism of representative inheritors.
