From May 20^th to May 30^th, a wonderful visual feast of the world handcrafts,2016 World Crafts Expo and Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo will be staged in Shanghai. This is a high-profile event which shows international association,state support and cross-regional cooperation in intangible cultural heritage protection and handicraft industry.

The fair will invite provincial and municipal representative arts and crafts enterprises,intangible cultural heritage enterprises, hundreds of state-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors, masters of Chinese arts and crafts as well as many leaders, famous artists, collectors and entrepreneurs. The successful hosting of the fair will enhance Shanghai’s international image as the “DesignCapital, Brand Capital, Fashion Capital”.

According to the introduction, the fair will launch novel, colorful theme exhibitions and interactions, including World Intangible Cultural Heritage Theme Exhibition,World Arts and Crafts Theme Exhibition by China Light Industry Federation, the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association and Chinese Academy of Oil Painting. And it will also include intangible cultural heritage living museum, creation experience pavilion, creative business fair that the audience can experience, and communicate with experts. The World Intangible Cultural Heritage Show, themed by “The Dancing Intangible Cultural Heritage”, invites domestic and foreign outstanding intangible cultural heritage dance and folkmusic programs to perform in turn, making the audience feel the different forms and charm of intangible cultural heritage, forming a communication space for cultural interaction. Furthermore, it will also hold attractive activities,such as “A Bite of intangible cultural heritage”, the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Food Festival and so on.

It is reported that the fair is a multinational cultural industry event after the World Expo with a high starting point. As a continuous result, the fair will be greatly conducive to the rapid completion of Shanghai World Handicrafts Industry ExpoPark. Besides, the fair will introduce the relevant cultural and creative industries, such as global representative arts and crafts industry, intangible cultural heritage industry etc. and permanently settle them in the preparing Expo Park, so as to effectively promote to construct Shanghai as the “DesignCapital, Brand Capital, Fashion Capital”.
