On May 25^th,2016, Jilin Province and Jilin City Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival (here in after referred to as “Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival” was held in the People’s Square).

Yang Kai, Deputy Secretary General of the provincial government, Ma Shaohong, Chief of the Provincial Department of Culture, and Zhang Chenyuan, Deputy Director of Department of Culture attended the opening ceremony. Yang Kai announced that the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival” opened. Ma Shaohong addressed at the opening ceremony. She said that holding “Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival” was the way to build the platform not only to protect, demon strate and research intangible cultural heritage, but to reflect inheritors’ creative vitality and traditional handicraft’s development potential. Meanwhile, it also provided an experience and interactive space. Everyone gathered to share the resources of Chinese traditional culture and appreciated the cultural charm of Jilin and others’ intangible cultural heritage. It would make a great difference to create a good social atmosphere of the protection, inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage.

At the opening ceremony, the inheritors and representatives of state-level intangible cultural heritage, such as Shanxi Ansai Waist Drum, Beijing Tianqiao Flat, Hebei Wuqiao Acrobatics and so on, gave a wonderful performance.

Regarded “Inheriting Cultural, Praying for Jilin” as the theme, held by the Provincial Department of Culture, Jilin Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government,undertook by the Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication, Municipal Bureau of Public Utilities, Chuanying(a district of Jilin City) Committee and Chuanying district government, this event will vividly show as the national flower, intangible cultural heritage’s charm, preciousness and vitality as wellas unique cultural value, extensive commercial space and great development advantage for tourism. It is understood that the event will continue to June 3^rd,including eleven contents, such as the municipal outstanding intangible cultural heritage project exhibition, municipal musical instrument Yangko(square dance) contest, the floating rival lanterns in Songhua River, the third session of the Songhua River lantern making contest, the fifteenth session of the Korean Folk Culture Festival,intangible cultural heritage exhibition and so on.
