Chengdu International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage Concluded

The 6th Chengdu International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage closed on June 18th, 2017.

 

Themed as “The Vivid Practice of Inheritance and Development”, the festival has made an expo which covers more than 50,000 square meters. There were over 300 foreigners from 112 countries (regions) and over 5,800 representatives from 34 provinces (cities) and autonomous regions of China attending the festival, 1,100 intangible cultural heritage projects were involved. Besides, there were 588 performances from 56 domestic and international performing teams. The product sales and orders have amounted to about 81 million yuan. Also, there were more than 2,000 projects registering copyright. Over 3 million visitors participated various activities. Meanwhile, over 30 million people watched and listened this festival.

 

It is understood that this festival holds “One Belt and One Road” Arts and Crafts Exhibition for the first time. There are 31 intangible cultural heritage projects from 19 countries, such as Italy, Spain and France, taking part in the exhibition. This festival, as an open platform, demonstrates the colorful world intangible cultural heritage, highlights their personalities and charms under different cultural backgrounds, shows the spirit of the International craftsmen and promotes international exchanges and cultural trade.

 

It is worth mentioning that, different from the traditional forms, this festival has also appeared the form of competition for the first time.

 

During the 9 days, in addition to the activities in the main venue, 9 parallel sessions including Chenghua District, Wuhou District, Gaoxin District, Xindu District, Jintang County, Dayi County, Pengzhou City, Qionglai City and Dujiangyan City, have also hold cultural feast. 40 performing teams from 25 provinces (cities) and 16 performing teamsfrom 13 countries performed in the 326 communities of 22 districts.

 

According to the introduction by the responsible person of Chengdu Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication, activities have covered 35% communities in Chengdu. After this festival, this activity will continue and still focus on the local cultural performances.
