The Intangible Cultural Heritage Base in Liangxi District Opened

On October 1st, 2017, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Base in Liangxi District (a district in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province) was officially opened. The base is a public space of intangible cultural heritage propagation and inheritance. Besides, it plays an important role in promoting the protection, inheritance, display, experience of the traditional culture and the sales of relevant products.

 

The base implements the working guideline of “Protection Oriented, Rescue First, Rational Use, Inheritance and Development”, with “Serving the Inheritors, Serving the Society” for the purpose. In addition, the base builds the display and sales platform for ICH by means of cooperation between government and enterprises, exploring the path of traditional culture’s social spread.

 

The base introduces the most representative ICH projects and inheritors in Liangxi District, even in Wuxi City, such as Huishan Clay Figure and its inheritor, YU Xianglian and so on. All settled projects are free of rent.

 

In the future, the base will provide a platform for 39 ICH projects at alll evels to display and exchange, adhering to the public welfare oriented and commercial supplemented. What’s more, the base will hold regular experience and interaction activities throughout the year. The base will also arrange public welfare activities in advance and propagandize by relevant official accounts, so as to be the bellwether in disseminating and inheriting ICH and local culture in Liangxi.

 

The base also has a public experience area and an art classroom to hold all kinds of experience activities and traditional cultural courses. According to the plan, the Bureau of Cultural and Sports in Liangxi will try to form the traditional cultural inheritance pattern, which made up of 3 or 4 ICH bases and 30 good neighborhoods, to achieve inheritance by successors.
