The Ministry of Culture Focused on Cultural Heritage Protection
On October 20th, 2017, XIANG Zhaolun, the Vice Minister of Ministry of Culture, addressed on cultural heritage protection on the press conference of the 19th NCCPC.
President Xi Jinping pointed out the basic guide for our cultural heritage protection, which is promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of China’s excellent traditional culture. The intangible cultural heritage protection has followed the concept of “Seeing People, Seeing Things and Seeing Life”, and has enhanced the ability of protection and inheritance. Based on large-scale census and registration, the project of establishing intangible cultural heritage record was started. The extensive teaching practice also supported by the authority. In 2016, the teaching allowance of the national representative inheritors increased from 10,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan per person per year.
The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education have carried out the plan of intangible cultural heritage inheritors’ research, learning and training. Currently, 78 universities have participated in this project. About 100 thousand inheritors will be trained during the 13th Five-Year Plan. At present, “China’s Traditional Crafts Revitalization Plan” has been implemented by the Ministry of Culture, which aims at expanding the applications of traditional crafts in modern life. As to intangible cultural heritage projects like oral tradition and performing arts, the Ministry of Culture has been classifying and formulating strategies, then gradually forming a more systematic regime.
