The Development Report on China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection (2017) Was Published in Guangzhou
On October 29th, 2017, Sun Yet-sen University and the Social Sciences Academic Press published Intangible Cultural Heritage Blue Book: The Development Report on China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection (2017) in Guangzhou. Hosted by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center of SunYet-sen University, the report comprehensively summarizes the China’s achievements on intangible cultural heritage protection in 2016, analyze the new trends and problems, and put forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions.
The report believes that China’s intangible cultural heritage protection practice has a new improvement in the system construction, propaganda and exhibition, and personnel training.
However, there are still shortcomings in the protection of intangible cultural heritage, such as little publicity on inheritance activities, deficiency in file and database construction, low utilization degree of high technology, little discourse power for inheritors and relative lag for discipline construction.
The report suggests that the protection work should be promoted from the following four aspects. First, to promote the diversified propaganda in order to build a good awareness of intangible cultural heritage. Second, to establish a cooperation mechanism for the protection of intangible cultural heritage to coordinate the interest demands of governments, social organizations and the public. Third, to regulate the intangible cultural heritage inheritance activities, further improve the inheritors system and to establish the supervision mechanism. Fourth, to promote the integrated development of intangible cultural heritage protection and high technology.
At the press conference, the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Database and China Popular Literature Database were formally launched.
