Chuzhou Legislation of Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection
On November 14th, 2017, the Regulations on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Chuzhou (a city of Anhui Province) was examined and approved by the fortieth session of the Standing Committee of Anhui Provincial People’s Congress. It will beformally implemented in January 1st next year. This provides a legal guarantee for the protection and inheritance of the city’s intangible cultural heritage.
The Regulations has specified the department in charge of the protection, the coordination mechanisms and the cooperation between departments, for encouraging and supporting social forces to participate in the protection work. Based on cultivating representative inheritors, the Regulations also focuses on strengthening the training of follow-up forces, including encouraging universities, secondary occupation schools and research institutions to offer intangible cultural heritage courses, establishing inheritance classes and jointly running schools.
In addition, the Regulations also determines to mark “Chuzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Month” from lunar January 9th to February 9th annually.
According to statistics, at present, there are 882 intangible cultural heritage projects in Chuzhou, including 2 national, 22 provincial, 49 municipal and 184 county-level projects; 1 national, 20 provincial and 72 municipal representative inheritors; 1 provincial intangible cultural heritage training base and 2 provincial intangible cultural heritage education and teaching bases.
