The Intangible Cultural Heritage Achievements Exhibition was Held in Baisha County, Hainan Province

On April 17th, 2018, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Achievements Exhibition was held in Baisha County, Hainan Province.

 

This exhibition was divided into 5 areas, including the picture exhibition area of intangible cultural heritage, the physical exhibition area of intangible cultural heritage, the exhibition area of inheritors, the performance area of intangible cultural heritage programs, and the pottery experience area of Li nationality. It focused on the achievements made in the intangible cultural heritage protection work of Baisha County in recent years. Besides, the picture exhibition introduced the main resources and distribution of Baisha intangible cultural heritage. The physical exhibition showed folk art, embroidery, pottery, bone carving, root carving, wood carving and other precious objects of Baisha. In the exhibition area of inheritors, the inheritors showed the production of embroidery, pottery making, plant dyeing and so on. The performance attracted the attention of the mass. In the pottery experience area, tourists experienced the fun of pottery making.

 

At present, there are 33 intangible cultural heritage projects getting key protection in Baisha. Among them, the traditional textile and dyeing skills of Li nationality (including the bifacial embroidery of Li nationality) was included into the first batch of national protection projects in 2006 and the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2009. In 2010, Laogu Dance and pottery making techniques of Li nationality were selected into the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list. In addition, the bone implement making techniques, folk tales, folk songs and other projects of Li nationality were included into the provincial list.

 

Since 2012, Baisha County has built training bases of Li Brocade in 16 primary and secondary schools and has trained more than 2000 students. The training classes of Li Brocade has been held in towns and townships every year, and more than 3000 women have been trained. Baisha also has 1 inheritance hall of Li Brocade, 1 intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, and 3 seminars of Li Brocade. On June 18th, 2011, the Regulations on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Baisha County was implemented.
