Recently, the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been continuously released two important documents, including The Notice on Vigorously Revitalizing the Traditional Crafts in Poverty-stricken Areas to Take Targeted Measures in Poverty Alleviation and The Notice on Supporting the Establishment of the ICH Poverty Alleviation Employment Workshops.

On the basis of summarizing the practical experience of “ICH & Poverty Alleviation”, the first notice proposes to strengthen the revitalization of traditional crafts, strengthening the cultivation of ICH inheritors, supporting the outstanding representative inheritors and technologists to carry out lectures, supporting to set up ICH poverty alleviation employment workshops, and setting up a platform for the design, display and sale of traditional crafts products in poverty-stricken areas.

The second notice points out that it is necessary to support the establishment of the ICH poverty alleviation employment workshops, organizing traditional crafts training, helping local poor households to learn the traditional crafts and master the related skills, organizing expert teams to carry out professional designs and upgrade the traditional craft products, building a platform to support e-commerce enterprises to sell the traditional crafts products produced by the workshops, which form a win-win pattern of poverty alleviation employment, industrial development and cultural revitalization.

Focused on the “three districts and three prefectures” in the poverty-stricken areas, and taking into account the state level poverty counties in some minority areas, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the State Council’s Poverty Alleviation Office select and publicize the first batch of 10 key supporting areas of “ICH & Poverty Alleviation” to support the establishment of the employment workshops.
