Intangible cultural heritage refers to the various forms of traditional cultural passed down from generation to generation and regarded as part of the cultural heritage of all ethnic groups, as well as the related physical objects and places. Ezhou City adheres to the principle of “Protection Prior, Rescue First, Rational Utilization, Inheritance and Development”, adhering to the scientific concept of protection, making plans and doing a solid job in inheritance, dissemination, protection and management of intangible cultural heritage, so as to make new contributions to carrying forward the excellent culture of the Chinese nation.

On August 15^th, 2018, the Ezhou municipal government announced the Fourth Batch of Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Projects List and the Extension List, a total of 11 projects.

The Fourth Batch of Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Projects List includes 9 projects. Among them, there is 1 project of traditional drama declared by Echeng District and Huarong District, the name of which is Chu Opera (Echeng Chu Opera, Huarong Chu Opera); 3 projects of traditional arts, including Zhujia Stone Carving of Huahu Town declared by Echeng District, Huarong Cloth Paste declared by Huarong District, Zhang Yuzhao Calligraphy declared by Liangzihu District; 3 projects of traditional techniques, including Pengtang Rice Flour declared by Echeng District, Huarong Paper Ligature declared by Huarong District, Huarong Bamboo Weaving declared by Huarong District; 1 project of folk customs, namely, Xujiawan Praying for the Protection of Young Shoots declared by Echeng District; 1 project of traditional dance, namely Lotus Boat declared by Liangzihu District.

The Extension List includes 2 projects. There is 1 project of traditional music, namely Zhangjiazui Three-tone Gong and 1 project of folk customs, that is, Tingzu Tianhuagong Temple Fair, both declared by Echeng District.
