Recently, the Changde Municipal People's Government announced the fifth batch of municipal-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects. This time, 8 new projects were added and 3 projects were expanded. Two projects in Li County were included. So far, there are 3 national, 2 provincial, 9 municipal, and 23 county-level representative projects in Li County.

The two new projects added this time are: traditional handicrafts--sugar painting, traditional medicine--traditional Chinese medicine preparation method (Lizhou ointment technology).

Sugar painting is a folk traditional craftsmanship that originated in the north and flourished around the county in the late Qing Dynasty. Sugar painting contains many elements such as history, art, local folklore, and craftsmanship. The production process of Sugar painting is complicated.

The original sugar painting pattern was dominated by the twelve zodiac animals. It adopted a single silk production method. The inheritor, Longzehong, combined the sugar painting with what he saw in daily life, and explored various forms of expression such as supporting, scraping and three-dimensional modeling.

The Liyang Plain of Li County is the earliest land for artificial planting of rice. It is a typical land of fish and rice. The people have a large amount of labor, and there are many people suffering from muscle strain and rheumatism.

Lizhou ointment making technology is a plaster for cervical spine, frozen shoulder, soft tissue injury, bone pain, muscle strain and other symptoms, serving the northwest of Hunan.
